President of the 68th UN General Assembly collects Luoyang Peony Porcelain

Shenzhen (Luoyang Daily) -- John W. Ashe, president of the 68th UN General Assembly and honorary chairman of the Global Sustainable Development Foundation, met with Song Shengli, chairman of Luoyang Datang Royal Porcelain Co. Ashe spoke highly of the peonies painted on the company’s ceramics and collected a decorating plate produced by the company during his visit in Shenzhen on January 31.

Ashe said that Luoyang is home to peonies, which enjoy a strong reputation and popularity around the world. In July 2014, the first Luoyang Peony Festival was held in Seattle, USA, earning the flower more recognition and promoting cultural exchanges of peonies between China and the US. Hopefully, the Luoyang peony can be introduced to the UN and the rest of the world, added Ashe.

Song Shengli said that his company will take this cultural exchange as an opportunity to introduce the porcelain art of peonies to the US, and conduct deep exchanges and cooperation with relevant parties in the US so as to promote Luoyang and Luoyang peony culture and better facilitate peony industrialization in Luoyang.
