【Introduction】:With additional train connections Deutsche Bahn wants to increase the density of long-distance traffic from Berlin.
October 10, 2019, the Group announced that the aim was to ensure a "seamless hourly cycle" between the capital and Munich and between Berlin and Frankfurt. This is provided for in the new ti ble for 2020, which is to apply from mid-December 2019. This would increase the supply between Berlin and Munich by ten percent.
New connection between Dresden and Rostock
The establishment of a new line between Dresden, Berlin and Rostock was already known. From mid-December, a new Intercity line will operate on this route, initially with ten journeys a day. From March 2020, this connection is to be offered every two hours.
This will give six towns along the route a regular long-distance connection again. These include Oranienburg and Elsterwerda in Brandenburg and Neustrelitz and Waren (Müritz) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Warnemünde and Schoenefeld Airport will be added in May of next year. As soon as the new Capital Airport BER opens, this stop will be relocated there.
New ti ble available from 15 October
From 15 October 2019, customers will be able to view the new ti ble and also book trips. With the Strong Rail concept, to which the ti ble is also geared, the railways want to become more punctual and expand capacities. Billions are to be invested in this.
