National Gallery - Alexandros Soutzos Museum

It is the biggest Gallery of Greece. The core collection includes 117 paintings registered in 1878. Afterwards the Gallery was enriched by private collections donated by Al. Soutzos, Evr. Koutlidis and several other Greek artists and collectors. Number of remarkable artworks such as “Stavrosi” (Crucifixion) of Lorenzo Veneziano and a collection of engraving works of the 16th and 20th centuries were bought by the Gallery itself.

Do not miss: “Filima” (Kissing) of N. Litra, “Arravonas” (Engagement) of N. Gizi, “Sinavlia ton Aggelon” (Angel’s Concert) of Dominicos Theotokopoulos, “O Ellinas Kavalaris” (The Greek Rider) of Delacroix.

Exhibitions: At the same time, the National Gallery organizes periodical exhibitions of remarkable Greek and foreign artists and events.

National Glyptotheque (National Gallery of Sculptures). The museum is located in a beautiful area of 6.500 sq. m and is housed in two renovated buildings formerly used as royal stables in Alsos Stratou (Goudi district). 150 examples of Greek sculpture of the 19th and 20th century are exhibited in its interior as well as the surrounding areas. At the same time the Glyptotheque organizes periodic exhibitions of Greek and foreign artists.
