The Danube concert program was put together in such way as if it would be Hungary’s name ticket. Every work which is included in this program has some kind of relationship with Hungary, either the author was Hungarian, or the author was foreign but the work is in connection with Hungary.
The Danube Symphony Music Band was founded in 1961, since then it has given a number of concerts in Hungary and also abroad. Their repertoire covers from the baroque music until the 20th century classics in almost every style. The music band represents the traditional Hungarian romantic music all over the world.
Next to the constant band-master Deák András, other Hungarian and foreign guest band-masters often lead the band. A number of Hungarian performing guest artists and foreign world stars performed together with the band, for example Giuseppe di Stefano singer from Italy, James Galway flutist from Ireland or Ray Charles jazz world star from the USA.
The performances can be seen in one of the most beautiful neo-baroque, air-conditioned theatre rooms, where Bartók, Kodály, Kálmán és Dvořák led their own works. The concert shows the most beautiful work of the cultural heredity of Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The concert makes you feel the life of the city, making this experience exceptional for the listener.
