The China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce (formerly known as Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation) and jointly organized by Fujian Provincial People’s Government, Xiamen Municipal People’s Government and Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce (CIPA) with assistance from the UNCTAD and WAIPA. As China’s only national event focusing on international direct investment promotion, it is held in Xiamen from September 8-11 each year with patronage by governments of various provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and para-provincial cities as well as relevant ministries, commissions, offices, bureaus and chambers of commerce.

A series of events as held during CIFIT, including “International Investment Forum”, provide a very good platform for the publicizing and introducing the latest investment policies and investment environment of China and the latest trends in international capital flows. It plays an important role in promoting the attraction of foreign investment in China and encouraging Chinese enterprises to invest overseas and participate in international economic cooperation. The Cross-strait Travel Fair as co-sponsored by the National Tourism Administration and Fujian Provincial Government is also held in conjunction with CIFIT with an aim to promote exchanges between and development of cross-strait tourism industries.
