Xiamen University was founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng, renowned leader of patriotic overseas Chinese, in 1921.

Jinmen Island is located at the southeast estuary of Fujian and right opposite to Xiamen across the sea, and it has a total area of about 176 km2.
