Baofeng Lake is a wonderful artistic landscape, co-created by Mother Nature and man. In the 1970s, a hydropower dam was built, and thereby formed a beautiful scenic lake against Baofeng Mountain, hence the name. The park consists of Baofeng Lake and Eagle Nest Village. Baofeng Lake, Baofeng Falls, Eagle Nest Village and A Thread of Sky are called the "four wonders" of Wulingyuan.

Rafting around in the lake, you can see the mountains mirrored in the lake, as if the work of an artist. "Lofty ladder leads up to the heaven, deep valleys and lakes spread like a mirror. From Queen Mother's Jade Pool, the fairies washing silk come down to earth." When tourists visit Baofeng Lake, they will have a chance to appreciate such poetic landscape. The Baofeng Lake embraced by mountains is about 2.5 kilometers long. This man-made multi-functional reservoir is used for water retention, irrigation of farmland, fish farming, power generation and sightseeing. The lake is like a mirror, surrounded by green mountains. It is really relaxing and comfortable to drift on the lake. Sitting in a boat and looking around, the green mountains look like green waves and the water shows inverted images moving slowly. It is really quiet and beautiful! Roaming on the lake, tourists also have a chance to see the wonders on mid-lake island, such as the "Flowering in Jade Bottle", "Ten Girls Dressing", "Goldfish Playing with Water", "Frogs Welcoming the Spring", etc., all of which are unique in their own style. Eagle Nest Village is a wonder in Baofeng Park. As you enter the park, walk westward along the mountain for hundreds of steps, and you will see the crack between two pinnacles as thin as a thread. At the entrance, there is an ancient crenelated wall making up the ancient city gate. Baofeng Temple is located at the far end, and enjoys great popularity. The stone path on the cliff leads straight to the summit. It is said that a bandit chieftain settled in the village at mountaintop before the founding of the PRC(1949). There is a canyon nicknamed “A Thread of Sky”, which is another wonder in Baofeng Park. The canyon is more than 200 meters long and more than 100 meters deep, with the average width not less than 2 meters. A stream flows through it, with stone steps circled around it. It is extremely quiet and inexhaustibly profound.

The tourist line also has more scenic attractions on the way. The famous Eagle Nest Village is located on a cliff to the southwest of Baofeng Lake. Historically, it used to be a notorious bandits stockade. The Hunan TV station once shot a TV drama here.

The lake is located 1.5 km away from the south of Wulingyuan, being a fine attraction in the scenic spots of Wulingyuan. It is a rare flat lake with deep canyons. Surrounded by green mountains and blue water constitutes for wonderful scenery and a masterpiece of landscape. Drifting on the lake, tourists can appreciate the wonders on the mid-lake island, such as the "Flowering in Jade Bottle", "Ten Girls Dressing", "Goldfish Playing with Water", "Frogs Welcoming the Spring", etc. Baofeng Lake is an artificial lake constructed by a river closure for damming. It is 72 meters deep and 2.5 kilometers long, and is the representative of landscapes in Wulingyuan for its beautiful lake and mountain scenery and secluded wild fun. Two emerald isles are located in the lake. Close to the isles, grotesque peaks stand aloft and water flows along the turns and twists of mountains.
