The Compagnietheater resides in a former church adjacent to the Nieuwmarkt. The building was designed in 1793 by city architect Abraham van der Hart for the Lutherian Congregation.
In 1995 the Compagnietheater moved in, establishing itself as a hotspot for theatre, dance and music. The company is led by Jacqueline van Benthem and Theu Boermans (artistic director of the Nationale Toneel), who work to ensure this stage remains a hub of creativity and nurtures new talent.
