The Shelter City hostel offers comfortable, affordable accommodation in the heart of Amsterdam. Prices start at just 13 euros for a bed in a single-sex dorm room with breakfast included. In addition to dorms, the Shelter City also offers 4-bed family rooms with private bathrooms.

The hostel offers free Wi-Fi and an amazingly peaceful courtyard with giant fish pond. It's a great place to meet other travellers and relax after a busy day of sightseeing. There is also cosy café where you can relax and grab a cheap drink or snack. At the Shelter there is no curfew, no lock-out, no drugs and no alcohol but there are free lockers and a luggage storage room. As the hostel is run by a Christian non-profit organization, Christian activities are available for those who are interested.

Location

The Shelter City is located in a narrow street between Nieuwmarkt and the Red Light District, not far from Dam Square. There are many cafés and restaurants in the area and Central Station is just a 10-minute walk away. All the city's major museums, sights and attractions are within walking distance. The building was once used as a primary school and Vincent van Gogh spent a year here as a teacher.
