Amsterdam's football (soccer) team is Ajax Amsterdam, one of the most successful European teams in history. Their 2014/2015 campaign gets underway in August so don't miss out on seeing them play live at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Amsterdam and sport
Amsterdammers love their sport. Gyms are always packed and even in the rain and cold you'll see joggers giving it their best around the Vondelpark. Likewise, they show perseverance in such terrible conditions on bikes rather than resort to public transport. However, when it's match time, thousands of football fanatics in the city can often be found in the packed pubs, watching the game at home on TV or of course, at the Amsterdam ArenA watching the action up close and personal.
There's nothing like the atmosphere of a live game at the Amsterdam ArenA - accompanying any great team is an enthusiastic fanbase and the Amsterdam fans are loyal and very vocal! Tickets to games are always first available to Ajax Club Card holders and then usually become available to non-card holders nearer the date of the match.
About Ajax Amsterdam
Amsterdam Football Club (AFC) Ajax was founded in March 1900 and is historically one of the most successful clubs in the world, one of just five clubs to have earned the right to keep the European Cup. True fans can take the World of Ajax tour and check out the Ajax Museum at the stadium to see the Holy Grail.
In the 2013/2014 season, ex-Ajax player Frank de Boer led his team to an impressive fourth league title in a row!
