The N1 motorway alongside Lake Geneva circles the city and also leads straight into the centre. At the French border in Bardonnex, it joins the A40 towards Lyon and Paris, or Chamonix and Italy.

Vignette

A tax sticker, "vignette", is compulsory to drive on motorways and semi-motorways. Valid for 1 year at 40CHF (on sale at post offices, garages and customs posts).

Seat belts

The wearing of seat belts both in front and back seats of vehicles is compulsory.
