An institution among the bars and pubs between Schanze and Eimsbuettel. Since the 1980s, 439 has been regarded as a calm meeting place for musicians, artists and people from the neighbourhood.

The bar used to be famous/notorious as a place for a final drink on the way home. It's still good for this purpose. This doesn't mean that you can't also spend a civilised evening here with generous servings of Irish whiskey and uplifting swing and soul sounds. And there is little trace of the party hysteria that reigns on Schulterblatt.
