Hamburg is celebrating a premier at the start of summer 2014: For the first time, the orchestras and organiser of the city are presented a music festival together of international format. From 9 May to 15 June 2014, the 1st International Music Festival Hamburg will be the conclusion and highpoint of the concert season – thanks to the generous financial support of the Klaus-Michael Kühne Foundation as well as other dedicated supporters and sponsors.
In collaboration with Elbe Philharmonic, concerts with the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Choir and the concert series NDR the "neue werk", the Philharmonic Hamburg, concert management Dr. Goette, the ELBJAZZ Festival, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Resonanz as well as FontenayClassics Chamber Concerts, Karsten Jahnke concert management, Kampnagel and Uebel & More than 50 classic, jazz, world music and pop concerts will thrill audiences.
The Hamburg Orchestra, renowned international stars such as Anna Netrebko, organ virtuoso Cameron Carpenter, pianist Maria João Pires and baritone Matthias Goerne as well as top-rate international orchestras such as the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam with Andris Nelsons will make Hamburg into a radiating festival city. In addition, music performances are planned throughout the whole city. You can also listen to and access the Elbe Philharmonic on an open house day with open-air concerts. "Seduction" is the programme motto of the first holding of this music festival, which is to take place biennially.
