TRANSIT TIPS

1. From Myeong-dong Station on subway line 4, go out exit 6 or 7 and walk down the hill into the Myeong-dong neighborhood about 150 meters until you reach the M Plaza Building.

2. Pass the M Plaza Building and go into the alley on the right (between M Plaza and the Body Shop). You should see the building with Seoul Kimchi Academy House on the left. Seoul Kimchi Academy House is located on the 4th floor of the building. (Address: 21-7 Myeongdong 8-gil).

Making Korea's Staple Food

Without a doubt, Korea’s number one signature food must be kimchi! Kimchi is made from fermented vegetables with varied seasonings. Although the most common type of kimchi is made with Napa cabbage, there are hundreds of different varieties made from several other kinds of vegetables, such as radish and cucumber (to name only two!).

Inside Myeong-dong’s Seoul Kimchi Academy House, you can experience Korean culture and history through this vital Korean food. Put on that apron and get ready to make your own kimchi with the guidance and supervision of a professional instructor. Not only will you get to make your own special serving of pickled cabbage, but you can also taste it and pack it up for easy transport overseas! Seoul Kimchi Academy House's kimchi making program takes about 30 minutes.

Seoul Kimchi Academy House offers several workshops daily, so be sure to plan your trip with the appropriate language offering.

TRANSIT TIPS

1. From the main entrance of the M Plaza Building, turn right and walk about 120 meters to a large intersection with a Burger King.

2. Turn left and walk 200 meters until you reach the main street. Turn left again and walk 70 meters to the Young Plaza bus stop.

3. From the bus stop, take blue bus number 151 or 162. After the second stop, the bus will turn right. Get off at the next stop (Insa-dong Jongno Police Station).

4. Walk back towards the intersection about 60 meters to the entrance of Insa-dong Street. Walk down the street about 400 meters until you reach a red brick building called Gallery Kkum.
