In modern times, "Hancheng" was changed into "Jingcheng" during the colonial period by Japan. The city of Seoul has a long history of over 2000 years. Since the establishment of Weili City, the capital of Paekche Kingdom, in 18 B.C., it has taken the place of capital city in Korean Peninsula. Thereafter, it becomes the place of strategic importance for Koguryo, Paekche and Silla. As the location of national capital of different kingdoms, Seoul has reserved as the palaces and temple constructions inherited from ancient Korea, including the Confucius’s Temple to sacrifice the Confucius.
