The mausoleum of Sui Emperor Yang Guang is located in the northern outskirts of Yangzhou.
During his reign, the emperor kept close relations with Yangzhou, where he governed for more than a decade before becoming emperor. He often came back to live an extravagant life and often shirked his imperial duties.
The emperor initiated many great projects, such as the Grand Canal, but was also a tyrannical ruler who was eventually strangled in one of his Yangzhou palaces.
