Time: Thursday May 8th to Saturday May 17th

Address: Cinematheque Tel-Aviv.

The Docviv Festival is in its 16th year and has become an important event on Tel-Aviv's cultural calendar. The festival aims to promote and cultivate quality documentary films from Israel and around the world. The film festival has gained international acclaim as one of the most highly regarded documentary film festivals in the world. The festival hosts leading directors and filmmakers from abroad and includes a dynamic program of events spanning many fields of documentary film making. Within the festival program will be multidisciplinary discussions, master classes and workshops with experienced film makers and screenings of over 100 films. There will be special midnight screenings of alternative films which specifically deal with music.

The festival exposes audiences to foreign cultures and important social issues encouraging a dialog between members of diverse societies. The festival's social agenda is to open sensitive subjects to general discussion, and by voicing issues from non-mainstream sectors of society, broaden the audiences' understanding.

This year, 16 Israeli films will be participating in the festival together with international documentaries, short movies, retrospectives, student films, films made by young filmmakers and art movies. There are four prizes awarded at the festival to an Israeli film, an international film, a student film and a youth competitor. The prizes are awarded at the festival's closing ceremony.
