For snow lovers, the Twin Peak Forest in Mudanjiang city cannot be missed. The forest, known as "Chinese snow town", is 180 kilometers away from Mudanjiang city. The Laotudingzi Mountain is the second highest mountain in Northeast China. Snow on the mountain peak never melts and pine and birch trees grow everywhere. It is a perfectly lovely scene in summer. As the Japan Sea’s warm air currents and the cold air above Lake Baikal converge here, Shuangfeng snowfall is heavy every winter. It snows for seven months a year and the snow can reach 3.8 meters in depth. The wind blows the snow into various shapes, making the village a fairyland. Here, visitors can refresh themselves with a stroll through the snowy wonderland, go skiing or watch a professional skiing show. Visitors can also choose to sleep in log cabins and eat wild games to experience lumberjack life.

Many visitors enjoy a few days of the “carefree life”, while sitting on the heated brick bed and being served dishes cooked by the cordial hostess. Eating succulent stewed chicken with mushroom, braised pork with vermicelli, pine nut, and melon seeds, while listening to the hostess tell stories about mountain life is a wonderful experience.

Transportation: Every 30 minutes a coach bound for Changting from Mudanjiang arrives and visitors can get on board at the Xisantiao Road Passenger Station or the Dongyitiao Road Passenger Station on Mudan Street. The trip costs 15 yuan ($2.5). At Changting, visitors can take either a chartered bus or a coach to Snow Town. A two-day package tour is also available and costs 100 yuan ($16.67).
