Introduction: The Shuangfeng forestry center, also named snow town, is located in the Hailin Forestry district of Mudanjiang city.

The forest covers 500 acres and is around 1,500 meters above sea level. This is the point where the warm, moist air current from the Japan Sea converges with the cold air from Lake Baikal and results in continuous snow for seven months each year. The snow can get two meters thick. Snow suspending from the roof or trees form snow curtains and tree rimes.

The snow town is well known because of the many photographs taken of the beautiful scenes. People are amazed by the snow town’s overwhelming beauty. The snow town boasts the highest mountains in North China, which distance it from the bustling cities. People still lead a rustic lifestyle here.

It’s extremely cold in snow town, so you must pack warm clothes before visiting. Here is a list of needed items for your reference: Snowboarding jackets and trousers, snow covers (a must when the snow becomes thick), Warming kneepads, feather jackets, large backpacks, thermos flasks with a capacity of 2L-3L, backup thermal clothes or cashmere clothes and trousers, main thermal clothes, waterproof climbing boots or hiking boots (to deal with slippery ground), outdoor foods, snacks with high energy supply (chocolate and beef jerky), hats, gloves (to fend off snow and moisture), quilted stockings, sunglasses (the sun has a strong glare), alpenstocks and other personal equipment.
