Museum of Zhang Zhidong & Hanyang Steel Factory, is currently the only themed museum based on Hanyang Steelworks and Zhang Zhidong, a man who contributed greatly to the modern history of China’s iron and steel industry.
Zhang paved the way for China’s industrial tourism. The museum’s establishment received massive attention and support from people and the media. CCTV documented the process.
Hanyang District government is in the process of building another industry museum featuring steel making on the site of Hanyang Steel Factory. Museum of Zhang Zhidong and Hanyang Steel Factory and the proposed Modern Industry Museum in Wuhan sits along the bank of Moon Lake near the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway.
The museum is close to other local scenic spots like Nan’anju, Turtle Mountain, QinTai Grand Theatre and Meizi Mountain. Visitors can get there by Bus No.575, 599, 708 or 801.
