Pihlajasaari is a former villa island that is now a versatile outdoor recreation area. It still has a few old villas set amongst rocks, wooded areas, groves and beaches. Varying terrain, good location and services have made Pihlajasaari the most popular summer island in Helsinki. Sun worshipers are attracted by Pihlajasaari's sandy beaches, there is also a naturist beach. Also cooking shelters, boat harbour, sauna to rent, café-restaurant Pihlajasaari (www.pihlajasaari.net) and possible to camp during Fri 12noon-Mon 12noon.
Opening hours: The JT Line ferry goes every day from Merisatama 10.5.-31.8. and 6.-7.9.2014 and from Ruoholahti 14.6.-10.8.2014.
