Lake Tuusula area, just north of Helsinki, has played a significant role in Finland's cultural history. A unique artistic community developed on the shores of Lake Tuusula towards the end of the 19th century. The community included famous names such as composer Jean Sibelius, painters Pekka Halonen and Eero Järnefelt. The area is easily reached by train, bus or car.
