Delicious Summer Food Events in Helsinki

Gastronomes may enjoy several delicious events arranged in Helsinki this summer. The Dinner under the Helsinki sky invites everyone out to sit by the tables and enjoy the picnic delicacies on Helsinki Day, 12 June. On the same day starts the Taste of Helsinki food event, which continues in the park of the Kansalaistori Square until June 15. Dinner in the Sky returns to Helsinki twice during the summer, in June and August. The highly popular Restaurant Day conquers the cityon 17 August. In late summer, the Delicacies of Finland & Syystober food and beer festival will be enjoyed at the Railway Square on 21–23 August. The season ends withArt Goes Kapakka, a true Helsinki Festival classic.

Dinner under the Helsinki sky 12.6.

On the evening of Helsinki day on 12 June the Esplanade Park turns into a giant feast as the park is set up with a long table decorated with white tablecloths for 1000 participants. Participation requires a reservation made in advance.

Taste of Helsinki 12.-15.6.

Culinary festival Taste of Helsinki gathers the best of what Helsinki and the provinces have to offer on fine dining. The biggest gourmet and wine festival held at Kansalaistorin puisto brings together such Helsinki-based restaurants as Ask, Demo, Juuri, Farang, Gastrobar Emo, Kaartin Hodari & Hummeri, and Postres. Other restaurants taking part in the event areSami Tallberg pop-up, Bertha from Tampere, Smakbyn from Åland andBistro O mat from Kirkkonummi. All the restaurants will put together a menu composed of three portions. However, visitors are free to make up their own menus out of 33 different portions according to their taste.

Dinner in the Sky 17.-22.6. and 5.-10.8.

Get an unforgettable gastronomic experience while enjoying an unparalleled view of Helsinki and its surroundings. Dinner in the Sky event rises 22 guests at a time to enjoy food or a glass of bubbly at the height of 50 meters. The restaurant in the sky offers champagne lifts, lunches and dinners.

Beer Festival Suuret oluet, pienet panimot 24.-26.7.

At the end of July the Railway Square hosts a beer festival that celebrates small breweries and brings together all those who appreciate good beer and cider. In addition to the products made by small breweries food will also be served in addition to all sorts of programme.

Restaurant Day 17.8.

The award-winning Restaurant Day offers a chance for anyone to make the dream come true of being a restaurant keeper. Pop-up restaurants are open everywhere in the city including private homes, parks, courtyards and street corners.

Delicacies of Finland & Syystober 21.-23.8.

The annual Delicacies of Finland (Herkkujen Suomi) event organized at the Railway Square is a great chance to get to know Finnish flavours from the provinces. The festival brings forth Finnish delicacies by gathering local and organic producers from different parts of Finland. As part of the event, the Syystober beer festival offers an opportunity to find out more about the Finnish beers produced in small breweries. Free entrance!

Art Goes Kapakka 14.-23.8.

During Helsinki Festival in August the traditional city festival Art Goes Kapakka combines the best of what local restaurants and artists have to offer. Celebrated for the 20th time this year the festival offers culinary delicacies combined with music, art, theatre, poetry and much more. Free entrance to all events!
