Military commander Radamès inadvertently betrays his country because of his love for Aida. The lovers are joined in death. This Egyptian story inspired Verdi to write some of his most brilliant music, resulting in one of the finest operas of all time. The acclaimed National Opera production refers both to the time of the Pharaohs and to modern-day conflicts.
