There are twelve official national holidays in Bulgaria. It depends on the holiday you may encounter a crowds and big celebrations, huge shopping fiver, a regular day or a day when everything is closed (like the New Year’s Day).

There are celebrations with the prime minister and the president in front of Alexander Nevski Cathedral and the Unknown Soldier monument for the National Day, the Independence Day and the Unification day. The St. George’s day is being celebrated by conducting a huge military parade starting at 10 am.

There is a big celebration in front of the Bulgarian National Library for the Cyril and Methodius day (aka the day of the Bulgarian alphabet). Despite the fact that the day of the Bulgarian Revival Leaders is a big Bulgarian holiday you won’t even notice this day unless you are student, teacher or professor. It’s the same with the Labor Day for some people the holiday is a day off from work while most of the people continue their daily activities as usual. And of course during the Christmas and New Year hype everyone goes crazy about shopping.
