Get acquainted with Nicosia through walking

Nicosia Municipality established since 1987 a series of thematic walks. These walks are seeking to present to the visitors the various aspect s of living in the old “within-the-walls city of Nicosia, as well as the city outside the walls.

Nicosia, a town with more than 6000 years of history has lots to offer to the visitors. Walking in the city, the visitor gets to know its history of many centuries and its tradition, but also understanding the constant cultural activity and development. The walks in Nicosia are based upon this philosophy.

The walks are offered free of charge A qualified tourist guide welcomes the visitors and escorts them in the walk.

These walks are organized throughout the entire year and are offered in English.

The walks begin and end in the CTO’s Information Center in “Laiki Geitonia” (Folkloric Neighborhood / Barrio), Aristokiprou 11 (east of Eleftheria Square, tel. 22 674264).

The walks start at 10 a.m. and every walk lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes, including a 30 minute break. It is wisely advised that all the participants should wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Furthermore, a hat or a cap is essential for the summer months.

There are two walks in Nicosia:

• Walk in Kaimakli – every Monday

• Walk in the old – within the walls – city – every Thursday.
