Visas are required for entry into Nigeria. Visitor and business visas are available in single or multiple entry form. There are several different types of visas: (1) tourist ( 2) visitor (3) business and (see www.nigeria.embassyhomepage.com, or www.nigeriabassyusa.org )
The procedure for each is as follows:
Tourist Visa requires
One completed application form Passport (ensure it is valid for at least 6 months)
One passport-size photo
Fee Onward or return ticket.
May also end need hotel reservations.
Visitor Visa ( valid for 3 months and one cannot work in Nigeria ) Provide the nearest Nigerian consulate with: Passport ( ensure it is valid for at least 6 months ) Two passport size photos A copy of your round-trip airline ticket ( or ticket with onward destination) A letter of invitation from someone ,in Nigeria ( or a letter from your travel agent ) An official bank account statements showing sufficient funds Proofs of vaccination for yellow fever Confirmation of a reservation from a hotel in Nigeria.
Persons entering Nigeria on a tourist or visitors visa are not allowed to work or conduct business. Business Visa ( valid for up to 12 months, multiple entry ) *Passport ( ensure it is valid for at least 6 months ) Two passport size photos A copy of your round-trip airline ticket ( or ticket with onward destination ) A letter of invitation from someone in Nigeria inviting you to come for business and assuming full financial responsibility for you during your stay An official bank account statement showing sufficient funds Proofs of vaccination for yellow fever Confirmation of a reservation from a hotel in Nigeria.
Subject to regularization ( valid 3 months for people coming to work ) Applicants need the following to receive and STR visa: Passport ( ensure it is valid for at least 6 months ) A letter of appointment from your organisation A letter of acceptance of appointment signed by you A copy of your CV/Resume Credentials Three passport size photos.
Nigerian embassies are beginning to restrict the issue of visas. If you are a foreigner residing in a country other than that of your national origin, it may be difficult to obtain a visa from the Nigeria Embassy there. Depending on where you are applying and the time of the year, it could take from two days to two weeks to receive a visa. Te rules and requirements are subjects to change, so check with the local Nigeria Embassy as early as possible.

Non-ECOWAS foreigners working in Nigeria require a Form (A) residence permit. It is issued for up to two years on the basis that the employer has a valid expatriate quota. Foreigners holding STR visas issued by Nigerian diplomatic missions overseas need to apply to the Nigerian Immigration Service for a residence permit within three months of arrival.
Dependents need a form B residence permit. It is also issued for up to two years. Required documentation includes copies of birth and marriage certificates. Form B residence permit holders may not automatically begin work. In most cases, a change of residence status will be required. Children may attend school without specific permissions or change in status.
