Yanshan Park has both marvelous scenery and cultural relics. The Zhongru (stalactitic) Mountain facing the front gate is endowed with mysterious karst caves and innumerable bats - pronounced as “bianfu” in Chinese (“fu” meaning happiness).
The mysterious Xiangsi River (Romance River) flows from south to north (no one knows its true origin) and dotted along its banks in Yanshan Park are thousands of ancient trees. Peculiar plants grow on Zhongru Mountain and Fangzhu Mountain in the park, forming a “natural botanic garden of karst landform”.
Chimonobambusa (a type of bamboo), green plum, red bean and orange osmanthus are the four most famous treasures of Yanshan Park. There are also many other spectacular sceneries such as Xiangsi River, Huashen (Flower Goddess) Temple, camphor trees and gingko trees, among others.
Yanshan Park has also attracted many prominent people to its grounds since modern times such as Sun Yat-sen or Sun Zhongshen, Chang Kai-Shek or Jiang Jieshi, Lin Sen, Hu Shi, Li Siguang, Ma Junwu, Yang Dongchun, Chen Yinxue, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai and Jin Yuxi.
