Mural Hill (Jiumahua Hill) is one of the best-known scenic areas along the Lijiang River in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Located 4 kilometers northwest of Xingping town, the mountain faces the Lijiang River and is over 400 meters high and 200 meters long. Its colorful precipices are steep, which from a distance, might be mistaken for a gigantic painting. At close observation, one might be able to spot a herd of horses; some standing, some lying, and others neighing.
Mural Hill Valley is as long as 3.5 kilometers. From the bird’s eye view, the water forms a silver-like belt around the mountains and descents a total of 180 meters. Karst landforms make up a large part of the unique geographical structure there, adding to the thrill of the river rafting route.
Mural Hill is 61 kilometers away from Guilin and 4 kilometers northwest of Xingping town. Visitors to the area can go upstream along the Lijiang River by bamboo raft to Xinping in order to best appreciate the riverside scenery. A 40-minutes bus trip to Yangshuo is also available. Transport around Mural Hill is extremely convenient, making it a good choice for a short-distance or self-driving travel. The Mural Hill Valley is only 300 meters away from the Lijiang River, which enables tourists to appreciate its best scenery while rafting or walking along the bank.
