Located in Caiwan town, Quanzhou county, the Tianhu Lake Scenic Area borders the Meixi township and Ziyuan county on the west. Features of the scenic area can be summarized as follows:

1. Unique climate conditions: Approximately 1,400-1,800 meters above sea level, the Tianhu Lake Scenic Area lies in the sub-tropical monsoon climate zone and has an annual average temperature ranging from 12 degrees Celsius to 16 degrees Celsius, serving as a perfect summer resort and an ideal place for snow scenes during winter months.

2. The establishment of Tianhu Hydropower Station: This is a high-head hydropower station that has Asia’s largest 1074-meter head fall. The views vary in each reservoir and alter as seasons come and go.

3. Infrastructure construction: The initial construction of highway networks and power supply networks has been completed. At present, each reservoir is accessible by road. Only renovations at a minimal level are needed to improve the pavement conditions. Power supply is readily available everywhere.

4. Excellent ecological environment covers a large area. Tianhu Lake Scenic Area is covered with 70,000-mu of high-altitude grasslands and 4371.3-mu of primeval forests, and boasts numerous exotic flora and various wild animals.
