The most well-known Shibaniang in Guilin are eighteen braised or steamed dishes. These "Niang Dishes" are made in a special way: first, combine the seasonings with the minced meat, then wrap them into coatings made from different vegetables or shells, to then be steamed or braised.

The eighteen ingredients for the Shibaniang are field snails, tofu, pomelo, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, mushrooms, pumpkin, eggs, bitter gourd, eggplant, pepper, white gourd, taro, garlic, tomato, bean sprouts, fried bean curd, and vegetable bun.
