Chinese tourists spent 384,000 nights in Finnish hotels in 2019, a 15.4-percent increase year-on-year, according to Finnish hotel overnighting statistics published by Statistics Finland on Friday.
According to Statistics Finland, visitors from Russia to Finland were the largest group in 2019, with 814,000 overnight stays, followed by Germans with 661,000 stays. The largest decline, by 4 percent, was in the 568,000 nights used by UK passport holders.
In all, there were 23 million hotel nights consumed, increased by 3.9 percent compared to 2018. Resident tourists consumed 16 million nights.
Increasingly popular rental apartments leased on a private basis are not included in the list.
At the end of December of 2019 there were 54,000 rooms commercially available in Finnish hotels. The average room rate was 120 euros, including tax.
