May 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 30, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 2 new cases of confirmed infections (both are imported cases in Shandong province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 2 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 565 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on May 30, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,740 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,692 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 48 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,001 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,304 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 63 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. So far, 744,693 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,183 are now under medical observation.

On May 30, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 3 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all are indigenous cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 30, 389 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 25 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 30, 1,569 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,082 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,036 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 442 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 421 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
