Ashgabat is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, the initial foundation of which dates back to 1881. Turkmenistan’s capital - Ashgabat has an ancient history. The fortress of Old and New Nisa, declared a World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2007, are located only 15 km away in the western part of modern Ashgabat. Nisa was the capital of Ancient Parthian Empire from 3rd century BC to 3rd Century AD. Ashgabat is located in the foothills of Kopetdag Mountain, at an altitude of 214-240 meters above sea level. The Kopetdag Mountain stretches from south of the city to north of Garagum Desert.
