For over 300 years, it was always the place for government. In 1980 it was changed to the Malacca Museum. Red House is a Dutch building with heavy hardwood, chains, and stones. It used to be the political institutions of Dutch governors and his party.

St. John’s Hill

St. John’s hill which is also called St. John’s castle which was the fort during the Dutch colonial time. It used to be an important castle to defense Malacca. But now only there is only a white arch left. Its peculiarity was the cannon did not face to the sea but point to the land. Because they believed that they were unmatched in the sea.

In 1409 Chinese Emperor asked Princess Henrie to marry Sousa. The princess brought 500 maids, and they settled in Sanbao Mountain. After the Portuguese occupied Malacca, they built a temple and a small church. However these two buildings were destroyed in 1629. There was a temple which was called Baoshan Temple under Sanbao Mountain in order to commemorate that Zheng he visited Malacca in the history.
