The streets of Vancouver’s historic Gastown neighbourhood will be bustling with holiday cheer and lights, as their annual Not-So-Silent Nights returns with plenty of festive fun.
Taking place over four weekend nights – Dec. 12-13 and 19-20 – there will be lots of merriment for visitors and locals alike as they stroll the streets, shop, and get into the spirit of the season.
Shoppers will love the extended shopping hours at several area retailers, making checking folks off the list for gifts a lot easier. Some stores will also be offering special pricing and giveaways, so you can benefit from supporting Gastown’s retailers, too.
In addition to twinkling lights hung throughout Gastown, you can enjoy a unique temporary art installation that will light up the night in a different way. Look for the special “Projection Mapping Video Art Installation” on The Leckie Building (located across from the famous Steam Clock). This Vancouver Film School production will take you on a trip down memory lane with moving graphics, 3D animation, special projection techniques, and surround audio. The huge 120ft x 60ft video wall of the Leckie Building in Gastown will come to life with a two minute video playing every 30 minutes upon the chime of the Steam Clock.
