【Introduction】:Extraordinary measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic are currently in force in Italy.
What is the situation at the moment in Tuscany?
Extraordinary measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic are currently in force in Italy.
Until 2 June, travel into and out of Tuscany is only allowed for reasons of proven need.
As from 18 May, free movement will be allowed within Tuscany and specific safety protocols have been adopted in public places.
Tuscany and Italy possess one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world. Tuscany guarantees to all non-Italians currently in the region the same healthcare that it offers to its citizens: universal, public and free to all.
Are the region's access points open?
Ports, airports, stations and motorways are open and operational. Check the status of your flight on the flight company’s website.
As from 3 June, you can enter Italy and Tuscany freely from abroad, except from countries for which special measures are in force. Until 2 June, specific measures will continue to be enforced: all travellers entering Italy, even if asymptomatic, are obliged to immediately notify the local health authority and are subject to health surveillance and fiduciary isolation for a period of fourteen days at the home or residence stated at the time of boarding.
Until 2 June, if you are travelling from abroad, a statement must be provided, which states:
a) reasons for travelling (for urgent matters, health, work or to return home)
b) full address of the house or dwelling in Italy where the period of health surveillance and fiduciary isolation will be carried out and any means of private transport that will be used to travel the stated address
c) landline or mobile telephone number where communications can be received during the entire period of health surveillance and fiduciary isolation
The local health authorities that must be informed of your arrival are:
Asl central Tuscany (Florence, Prato, Pistoia, Empoli): 0555454777 rientrocina@uslcentro.toscana.it
Asl northwest Tuscany (Pisa, Livorno, Lucca, Massa Carrara, Viareggio): 050.954444
rientrocina@uslnordovest.toscana.it
Asl southeast Tuscany (Arezzo, Grosseto, Siena): 800.579579
rientrocina@uslsudest.toscana.it
As advised by the Ministry of Health, Toscana Aeroporti, the company that manages Tuscany’s airports, has been measuring body temperatures on all passengers arriving in the region.
Arrival and departure of public transport
Public transport is running regularly in order to enable necessary travel, but with special measures to allow social distancing and intensified cleaning. For up-to-date information we recommend that you visit the Region’s official website with real-time updates on the public transport situation: regione.toscana.it/speciali/muoversi-in-toscana
Are Tuscany’s museums and attractions closed?
As from 18 May, museums and tourist attractions may reopen with the introduction of special measures for visitor safety. Please see specific websites, available on the Visit Tuscany page, for further information. All public events are cancelled.
What precautions has the Tuscany health system taken to protect residents and visitors?
The Tuscan Region guarantees its constant collaboration with the national health authorities and with the regional health offices, which are on alert and continuously kept informed with regards to operational updates and guidelines codified at national level.
The situation is being constantly monitored by the local health authorities, which guarantee the sanitary control of Tuscany via the adoption of actions and measures specifically geared towards prevention. Daily disinfection of regional trains and all local public transport has been intensified. In Tuscany’s airports, public spaces are being sanitised on a regular basis and handwash dispensers are available across the terminals.
Can I cancel a trip?
As from 3 June, Italy’s borders will reopen, so there is no reason to cancel your trip. The general cancellation terms and conditions of the hotel/accommodation or tour operator will apply. For detailed information, please contact the hotel or accommodation that you have booked, and possibly your insurance company, if you have stipulated a cancellation policy for the trip.
If you decide to cancel your trip to Tuscany, we nevertheless suggest that you check with the accommodation or tour operator if it is possible to change the booking to another date.
