The Forbidden City, one of the must-see landmarks in Beijing, plans to set a limited number of 80,000 visitors daily. The policy aims to minimize security risks and damage to the buildings, the museum explained in a statement, but it did not say when the limit will begin.
In 42 days out of the opening days in 2015, more than 80,000 people flocked daily; In 7 days, visitors surpassed 100,000; in 4 days, the visitor reached 110,000 daily.
The museum also plans to encourage visitors to book tickets in advance through the Internet. Gradually the museum expects to move its booking system completely online, the statement said.
