UNESCO names Tbilisi as Capital of World Book 2021

【Introduction】:Tbilisi is famed for its unique and splendid cultural heritage, traditions of hospitality, cuisine, and ancient history. Founded in the 5th century, the city is gradually gaining its popularity throughout the world.

Founded in the 5th century, the city is gradually gaining its popularity throughout the world. This year, Tbilisi as the World Book Capital 2021 and thus, once again attracted worldwide attention. d on the recommendation of the World Book Capital Advisory Committee, the General Director of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, named Tbilisi (capital of Georgia,) World book capital for the year 2021. Around the slogan “Ok, so, your next book is…?” the program focuses on the use of modern technologies as powerful tools for promoting reading among youth.

Throughout the year of 2021, several events and activities, such as libraries and book festivals will be held, as well as the rebuilding of the first Georgian publishing house.

The year of celebrations will start on 23 April 2021, on the World Book and Copyright Day.
