Melbourne Music Week (MMW) captivates the city with a nine–day program dedicated to illuminating connections between music, people and places within the city's world–renowned music scene. Made up of 110 events featuring 240 artists with input from more than 65 dedicated programming partners, MMW's breadth will be felt in 40 locations across this music city.
The historic State Library Victoria has been announced as MMW's Hub for 2016, with its original reading room, Queen's Hall, set to host many of MMW's marquee performances and acting as the main performance space. The domed La Trobe Reading Room will also play host to performances and events, and each day of MMW the State Library's famous forecourt will host free all ages performances, DJ sets, brand activations and hospitality offerings.
Alongside an electric line-up of local and international acts, MMW's 2016 program also features a range of exhibitions, practical music-focused workshops, panel discussions, food and fashion events, and more.
Live Music Safari presented by V MoVement will see 14 of Melbourne's famed live music venues open their doors for a night of free gigs and parties. The Self Made program, presented by JBL Audio, also returns with a fresh program of eight fun, unexpected and independently curated music events that take audiences to quirky locations.
