2018 Chronology of WTCF

WTCF held 2018 New Year Reception

In January 2018, as the 2018 traditional Chinese Spring Festival was around the corner, WTCF held the 2018 New Year Reception in Beijing. Twenty embassy officials of Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Cuba and Colombia attended the event, as well as more than 100 guests from 64 countries including representatives from SCO, EU, and WTCF members.

WTCF attended ITB Berlin 2018

In March 2018, ITB Berlin 2018 was opened in Berlin of Germany. As the exclusive co-host for the third time, WTCF led a delegation to attend the exhibition. WTCF hosted two events at the exhibition, with the first event aimed to issue the Report on World Tourism Economy Trends (2018) and the UNWTO/WTCF City Tourism Performance Research, and the second panel discussion centered on the discussion of the popular topic “New Changes and New Motives in China’s Tourism Market” and others.

WTCF participated in BITE 2018 and hosted the Cote d’Ivoire Tourism Meeting

In June 2018, Beijing International Tourism Exposition 2018 (BITE 2018) kicked off in Beijing. WTCF participated in the event and was active in introducing the tourism resources of the members to visitors. Additionally, it co-hosted the Cote d’Ivoire Tourism Meeting with Cote d'Ivoire Bureau of Tourism, and attracted more than 10 travel agencies from WTCF institutional members for discussion and business connection with tourism companies from Cote d’Ivoire.

“Dilraba Feels Seychelles” of Feel the World, Victoria joined hands with Sina Weibo to show destination splendor

In August 2018, the first online celebrity deep travel lifestyle documentary Feel the World’s third season program Dilraba Feels Seychelles was aired on Sina Weibo. This program was another example of cooperation of WTCF joining hands with its institutional member sina.com and city member Victoria to promote destination tourism resources to Chinese tourists in a brand new way. Victoria became one of the filming locations of the documentary Feel the World due to WTCF recommending the city out of many candidate city members, after analyzing the characteristics of the program. In recent years, WTCF has been utilizing its platform resource advantages to provide multiple ways of publicity for its members, from its interactive cooperation with Beijing Sparkle Roll Interactive Technology to create the program Travelling around World with WTCF, which has been aired in 46 five-star hotels in China, to its driving force in the cooperation between Tencent and Helsinki, and creating overseas smart travel service testing cities, and so on. All these efforts have reflected WTCF’s advantages in tourism resources.

WTCF attended Global Tourism Economy Forum Macao 2018

In October 2018, Global Tourism Economy Forum Macao 2018 took place in Macao. Among more than 1,500 attendees were experts, scholars and industrial representatives from 40 countries and regions. They discussed the new power of China-EU bilateral relations and focused on the cooperation in Guangdong-Macao-Hong Kong Greater Bay Area. The participants had extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions.

WTCF successfully held a themed forum at WTM 2018 - "Pulsed" China's outbound tourism market

In November 2018, WTM 2018 was held at ExCeL, London. WTCF was invited to the event and hosted the "China Outbound Tourism Development Trend " forum.
