Dubai International Airport Retains Title as World's Busiest for 10th Consecutive Year

The Airports Council International (ACI) has released the preliminary list of the top 10 busiest airports worldwide in 2023.

The results show Dubai International (DXB) has maintained its status as the world's busiest international airport for international travel for the 10th consecutive year.

Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO, said: "While this milestone was greatly anticipated, its official confirmation instils us with great pride. DXB is proud to uphold its status as the world's foremost international airport for an unparalleled ten years.

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, ACI World director general noted that global air travel in 2023 was primarily driven by the international segment, fuelled by factors such as China's reopening and a growing interest in travel despite macroeconomic conditions.

He highlighted notable shifts in the top 10 busiest airports (domestic and international travel), with Dubai International Airport rising to second place for the first time and Tokyo Haneda International Airport making a significant leap from 16th to fifth position. Doha International Airport rejoins the top 10, jumping to number 8 with a growth of 6.3 percent over 2019.

Airport rankings are based on data collected from over 2,600 airports across more than 180 countries and territories.
