In 1991, Speicherstadt built more than a century ago was listed under the Hamburg Heritage Protection Act of 1991, a move welcomed by the public. In July 2015, this complex and its adjacent Kontorhaus District with Chilehaus together became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The complex is one of the largest of its kind in the world, dotted with distinctive scenic spots and museums. Visitors to Hamburg are always fascinated by this colorful "warehouse city" that encompasses Gothic buildings, crisscrossing waterways, a dazzling array of spices, and many more attractions waiting to be explored!
