South Korean Tourist Groups Flock to Sanya

A group of South Korean tourists, with over 1,000, have recently arrived in Sanya and embarked on a four-five-day exploration.

Following the arrival of 1,000 Italian tourists in July this year, Sanya welcomes another large-scale international tourist group, marking one of the largest South Korean inbound groups in recent years and further expanding Sanya's brand influence in the South Korean market.

This event was facilitated by collaborating with the Sanya Tourism Board and Hanatour, South Korea's largest outbound travel group.

During their time in Sanya, South Korean visitors enjoyed diverse local experiences. At dinner banquets, they savored authentic local Sanya cuisine and admired the unique traditional dances of ethnic minorities. Additionally, the tourists visited attractions such as the Sanya Qingguqing Scenic Area, Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, and Hainan Betel Nut Valley Li and Miao Cultural Tourism Zone. They experienced distinctive activities like yachting and golf in Sanya.

In recent years, Sanya has significantly emphasized developing the South Korean market. In the latter half of last year, flight routes between Sanya and Seoul and Sanya and Busan were reinstated, with the increasing frequency of flights driving a steady growth in visitor numbers. In September last year, the Sanya tourism board attended the 11th Asia-Pacific City Tourism Organization (TPO) General Assembly held in Jeonju, South Korea, and organized tourism marketing and promotional activities in Seoul with outstanding tourism enterprises in the Sanya Economic Circle, including hotels and golf courses.

South Korea has become one of the significant source markets for inbound tourism in Sanya. Data shows that from January to October 2024, South Korean tourists ranked second in the number of inbound tourists received by hotels in Sanya.
