Point Cloud

Permanent installation

Author: Leo Villarreal (2019)

Address: Howard St. 747

The "Point Cloud" of Leo Villarreal is located on the footbridge connecting the north and south towers of Mosconi Convention Center. This 100-foot-high pedestrian bridge towers above Howard St., and seemingly endless light bulbs connect the two buildings of the Mosconi Convention Center. The "Point Cloud spans 100 feet and consists of 858 steel rods and 28,288 LED bulbs the same as those on the Bay Bridge. Each bulb is individually programmed, and blue, yellow, orange, pink, and lavender are replaced every 30 seconds. You can walk across the flyover during the opening hours of Mosconi Convention Center to experience this immersive installation, or admire this masterpiece of visual art from a distance on the ground around Howard St.
