“W.F.T. Word Family Tree” Permanent installation

Author:Joseph Kosuth 2019

Adress:Grove St. 99, Civic Center Bill Graham Auditorium

To the west of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, you will see the impressive work of Joseph Cosout. "W.F.T." stands for "Word Family Tree". This mural presents the etymology of "citizens" and "auditorium" in white neon lights, or "genealogy of words". The words that make up this neon art installation show the reality of the relationship between culture and society, show the historical meaning of the word "Auditorium", and show how the words reveal the relationship with cultural and social reality.

Best time to watch: After dusk
