In the 1930’s and 1940’s, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel had held the Oscar Academy Award many times, actually, the conception of Oscar was concived at this hotel in 1927. The designer of the statuette, Cedric Gibbons, had a sudden inspiration when he had dinner in the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, and then, he drawn the rough draft of the statuette on a piece of napkin. Later, the famous Oscar statuette was born.
At the end of the film True Lies, the counter-terrorist agent Harry Kerr (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his wife and partner Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis) dance a wonderful Tango with each other hand in hand when carrying out a latest secret mission. The filming destination is the Crystal Banquet Hall of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. After booking and staying at the hotel, you can see the legendary and elegant hall decorated with Austrian crystal droplights, 30-feet-high celling with hand painted murals, and several splendid balcony reached out by two sides.
For many years this banquet hall has been the shooting place of countless movies and the hosting place for historic acitivities. On May 11th, 1927, it is in the luncheon of the Crystal Banquet Hall that Louis B. Mayer announced the establishment of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. For easily capturing a lot of tourists’ heart, it has become one of the most romantic scenic spots in Los Angeles.
the Millennium Biltmore Hotel is also the filming destination for Hollywood director and television show, such as Mad Man. If you check into the hotel, you will see the main corridor where the paranormal detective team was chased in Ghostbusters scene in 1984.
