There is an open street start at the Bell Tower which called Nandajie. In fact, in the ancient time, there were four alleys which were not so important in the east, west, north and south of the palace city. They don’t have formal names as well. People just call them according to their lengths as: Dongliu (East six), Xiwu (West five), Nansan (South three) and Beisi (North four). The four alleys connected each other in pairs and constitute two axle wires of the city. Nowadays, Nandajie is the widest and busiest commercial street in Xi’an, with high-end shopping malls and hotels on the two sides. In the middle of the street, flowers grow lush, the lights seems like a rainbow at night. At the two ends of the street, the Yongning Gate echoing with the Bell Tower. Many large stores, restaurants, bars and House Dj Clubs are gathered here. This area is often perceived as a fashion trendsetter of Xi’an.
