Tanjung Pandan is the largest town on the Belitung Island in the Indonesian province of Bangka-Belitung. Tanjung Pandan is the capital of the Belitung Regency, belonging to one of the five districts.

Belitung is a medium-sized island with a land area of about 1,840 square miles (4,800 km2), consisting of moderately rugged terrain with several hills. This is an island on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, in the Java Sea. Administratively, it forms part of the province of Bangka-Belitung Islands. The island is known for its peppers and tin. Its main town is Tanjung Pandan.

Belitung is bordered by the Gaspar Strait, the South China Sea and the Java Sea. Its turquoise blue sea is moderately calm and shallow, ideal conditions for sailing, snorkeling, and swimming.

Being a tropical country, Indonesia is blessed with two seasons, namely dry and rainy. Dry usually occurs from June to September and the rest is rainy season. Sunshine is abundant, except in rainy season when the sky tends to be cloudy. It is advisable to visit Indonesia during dry season.
