【Introduction】:Nicosia is the capital as well as the largest city on the island of Cyprus. It is located near the center of the Mesaoria plain, on the banks of the River Pedieos.

City Introduction

Nicosia is the capital and seat of government of the Republic of Cyprus. It has been continuously inhabited for over 4,500 years and has been the capital of Cyprus since the 10th century.

History and Culture

Two-hundred-odd years before Nicosia was called "Ledra", which is located at the south-west of today's Nicosia. It was the important capital of Cyprus in the ancient times. Nicosia was built based upon Ledra. It was respectively ruled by Byzantium (330—1191), Lusignan (1192—1489), Venice (1489—1571), Turkey (1571—1878) and Britain (1878—1960).

Cyprus is a beautiful island located in the East of the Mediterranean. It has many mountains and forests all over the city.
